Start with a body cleanser in the shower, followed by an exfoliator if you are using one that session. Once out of the shower, apply serums or oils to slightly damp skin while pores are still open — this improves absorption. Finish with a body cream or balm to lock in moisture and protect the skin barrier. Sunscreen is the final step on any exposed areas during the day.

Once or twice a week is enough for most skin types. Body skin is thicker than facial skin and tolerates exfoliation well, but overdoing it can weaken the barrier and cause irritation. Focus on areas prone to roughness or congestion — upper arms, thighs, elbows and shins — and use lighter pressure on the chest and neck where skin is thinner.

Your skin's needs shift with the seasons. In winter, colder air and central heating strip moisture, so richer creams and oil-based formulas help maintain the barrier. In summer, lighter textures absorb faster without feeling heavy, and regular exfoliation helps prevent congestion from sweat and sunscreen. The core routine stays the same — cleanser, treatment, moisturiser — but swapping textures and weight seasonally keeps skin balanced year-round.
